HVAC repair across Connecticut and Massachusetts, day or night
Heating and cooling fail at inconvenient hours, which is why the phone is staffed at two in the morning on a holiday weekend. Tell us what it is doing and we will tell you whether it needs someone tonight or whether it can wait until tomorrow.
What is it doing
Select everything that applies. We will tell you how urgent it is and which repair it points at.
Tell us what is happening
Pick the symptoms above and we will tell you how quickly this needs attention.
This is guidance, not a diagnosis. If you smell gas, do not use switches or phones inside the building. Leave, then call your gas utility from outside, then call us.
Five repair services under this category
Whatever is in your basement or beside your house, we work on it. Pick the one that matches your system for the detail.
Emergency HVAC Repair
No heat in a cold snap, no cooling in a heat wave, or anything that cannot wait until business hours. The phone is answered around the clock, every day of the year.
Emergency repair Central and ductlessAir Conditioning Repair
Not cooling, cooling weakly, short cycling, icing up or leaving the house damp. We diagnose before quoting and tell you plainly when a repair is not worth the money.
Air conditioning repair Gas, oil and propaneFurnace Repair
Ignition faults, blower failures, control boards and safety lockouts. Combustion and heat exchanger checks are part of every visit rather than an upsell.
Furnace repair Ducted and ductlessHeat Pump Repair
Defrost problems, refrigerant faults, reversing valves and controls. Heat pumps behave differently from other equipment in cold weather, and not everything that looks wrong is.
Heat pump repair Radiators and baseboardBoiler Repair
Circulators, expansion tanks, pressure loss, zone valves and ignition. Hydronic systems are their own discipline and we have people who work on them properly.
Boiler repair Before it breaksMaintenance Plans
Most of the emergency calls we take were preventable. Annual service catches the failures that turn into a two in the morning phone call.
Maintenance plansThings worth checking while you wait
None of these are repairs, and none of them require tools. They are simply the faults we get called out for most often that turn out to cost you a visit.
- Check the thermostat batteries and setting. A surprising share of no heat calls are a dead battery or a system switch knocked to off.
- Check the breaker. Both the panel and, on a furnace or boiler, the switch on the unit itself, which looks like a light switch and gets flipped by accident.
- Check the filter. A clogged filter starves airflow, which causes weak output, short cycling and frozen coils. It is the single most common cause of the symptoms people call about.
- Check the emergency switch. Usually at the top of the basement stairs, often mistaken for a light switch.
- On a boiler, check the pressure gauge. If it reads at or near zero, tell us when you call. It changes what we bring.
- Do not keep resetting a locked out unit. Safety lockouts exist for a reason, and repeatedly resetting an oil burner can flood the chamber.
Diagnose, price, then fix
In that order, every time. You approve the cost before anything is replaced, and if the honest answer is that repairing it is not worth the money, we say so rather than selling you a part on borrowed time.
Triage on the phone
What it is doing, what you have, and whether it needs someone tonight or can wait until morning.
Diagnosis on site
We find the actual fault rather than replacing the most likely part and hoping. Safety checks are part of it.
Options and price
What is wrong, what it costs to fix, and an honest read on how much life the system has left afterwards.
Repair and verify
The fix, then a test of the system running properly before we leave rather than a call back next week.
When we will tell you not to bother
Repair is usually the right answer. These are the cases where it stops being one, and we would rather you heard it from us on the first visit than after three more.
- A cracked heat exchanger. Not a judgment call. It is a combustion safety issue and the unit gets shut down.
- Repeated refrigerant loss. Topping up a leaking system is buying the same problem again, and on older equipment the refrigerant itself is getting harder to source.
- A repair approaching a third of replacement cost on aging equipment. Compressors, heat exchangers and control assemblies are where this happens.
- A leaking cast iron boiler block. Usually the end of that boiler rather than a repair.
- Parts no longer available. It decides the question for you eventually, and it is worth knowing before it does.
If it is time to replace. The state rebate programs pay their largest incentives when a heat pump replaces an existing fuel system, and an emergency replacement in January limits your options to what can go in today. If your equipment is close, worth reading system replacement before it makes the decision for you.
I'm so happy! Excellent, friendly, and professional. Hunter is very knowledgeable and was also excellent with his co worker/trainee. I would definitely HIGHLY recommend this team. My issue was fixed quickly and was affordable. You guys made my day! Thank you! I will survive this heat wave!
